We created a new spatial user experience that enables viewers to explore online video content in both a linear and relational way.
Prior to starting Variate Labs, Miles worked as a senior user experience designer at Schematic Inc. in Los Angeles. Miles designed the user experience for the new Televisa Video player. This video player was originally intended to be launched for the Chinese Olympics but was instead used to show all World Cup soccer content to central and South America. This video player was used millions of times throughout the World Cup and set a new standard for an online video player experience.

Reskinnable Video Platform
This video player was designed to be reskinnable for different media events and can be updated through a dynamic content management system. In this image three versions of the video player are shown.

Seamless Experience
All functionality for the video player was included in one dynamic view. At all times video is playing in the actual video player. Content is organized in a linear way on the left of the player and in a more relational way on the right side of the player. When a viewer begins the experience they are shown a simple navigation system (at left). A viewer can select the expand button to see more content options. At any time a viewer can select the video icons at right to related video content and information about the video that is currently playing.

Linear Browsing
A viewer can browse different categories by selecting text in the left menu. As they select a spatial visual breadcrumb is shown.

Relational Content
At any time a viewer can select the icons at right to learn about the video that is currently playing and see various related videos. At any time the viewer can navigate back to the linear browsing by selecting the arrow at left.
